The Trondheim Soloist has an extended engagement in talent development, recruiting and teaching, both in Norway and abroad.
The Trondheim Junior Soloists were founded in 2001 as a training orchestra for The Trondheim Soloists. The orchestra is made up of 16-20 young string talents from the age of 16 to 20.
The musicians are recruited from music schools throughout the whole of Central-Norway. The Junior Soloists meet for projects - 4-5 during a year. The main aim is to learn how to work as chamber musicians on a high level, learn chamber orchestra repertoire and in general inspire the young talents.
The ensemble has been on several international tours. In 2016 they played at Tokyo Spring Festival and cooperated with Kyoto Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. In July 2018 they played three concerts at Lisbon International Youth Music Festival. They have recorded CDs with music by local Trondheim composers and also done creative projects together with jazz violinist Ola Kvernberg and DJ Final (now internationally famous as pop artist Cashmere Cat).
